R'S STUMBLE AT THE NEIGHBOURS
Tuesday 9th September 2008
by Ron Norris
The
under 18’s slipped to their first defeat of the season this
weekend, going down 2-0 at West London neighbours Brentford.
With Ed Harris
and Femy Ilesanmi rested to feature for the reserves this week, Steve
Brown was forced into some changes.
Nikki Bulmer
started his third straight game between the sticks, whilst the back four
consisted of Michael Harriman, Michael Wright, Daniel Bailey and Aaron
Waters. Terry Smith, Danny Davenport and Max Ehmer continued in midfield
and the forward trio was made up of Christian Nanetti, Antonio German
and Josh Parker, making his first appearance this season.
Brentford took
the lead shortly before the break when Tom Davis knocked home Bulmer’s
parried save. Then midway through the second half David Pitt took his
chance to make the score 2-0 and wrap up all three points.
This was not
the lads finest hour, and with Steve Brown admitting his side only
created one chance of note, it was a deserved victory for the home side.
Rangers now turn their attentions away from the league for a month
and look forward to four consecutive group games in the Youth
Association Cup. The first of these takes place on Saturday when we
travel to face Millwall.
