100 PERCENT START
Monday 1st September 2008
by Ron Norris
Rangers'
under 18's continued their good start to the season by winning
their second match in a row on Saturday morning. Despite finding
themselves a goal down at Barnet they fought back to come away
from North London with a 2-1 victory.
Steve Brown made
only one change from the side that defeated Peterborough two weeks ago.
Nikki Bulmer
continued in goal behind a back four of Michael Harriman, Ed Harris,
Michael Wright and Femy Ilesanmi. Danny Davenport, Max Ehmer and
Terry Smith were the midfield trio whilst
Cyrus Sylvan-Vanterpool replaced
Danny Fernandez in attack alongside
Antonio German and
Christian Nanetti. Barnet took the lead just shy of
the half hour mark after being awarded a hotly disputed penalty however
Rangers struck back just two minutes later when Sylvan-Vanterpool
slotted home to level the scores going into half time.
The winner came ten minutes after the break, Nanetti was felled 20 yards
from goal but before the ref could blow for the free kick Davenport
curled the loose ball home, much to the anger of the home side who
believed a free kick should have been awarded.
The under 18's are back in action this weekend as
they make another trip across London, this time to face Brentford. We'll
have news from that game online on Monday evening.
