YOUTH TEAM ROUND UP
Monday 15th October 2007
by Ron Norris
Rangers have played three more fixtures in
the Youth Association Cup group stages over the last couple of
weeks and enjoyed two wins and suffered one defeat.
The last weekend of September saw Steve Brown’s
side travel to Brighton and come away 3-0 winners thanks to an Antonio
German goal and a brace from Angelo Balanta.
The young R’s kept up their winning run the
following weekend with another 3-0 victory, this time in a home fixture
against Swansea. Once again Balanta and German were on the score sheet
with Romone Rose grabbing the third to take Rangers up to second in the
group table.
However last Saturday they fell to a 2-1 defeat at
table toppers Plymouth Argyle. Despite taking an early lead through Lee
Brown the home side fought back with two second half goals, with the
winner coming just two minutes from time. The Pilgrims have now won all
five of their group games to lead the group by three points.
Rangers slip to third as a result of the defeat and
have two games remaining to qualify for the knock out stage. This
Saturday Brown’s boys welcome Barnet to Harlington. |
