SEASON STARTS WITH A
WIN

Rangers’ under
18’s got the defence of their South East Conference League
Championship off to a perfect start with a narrow victory over
Peterborough United this weekend.
Following the
changes to the coaching system this summer that saw Joe Gallen
depart it was all change for the under 18’s as Steve Brown took
charge of his first competitive match.
Playing a new
look 4-3-3 formation, the side featured several of last years
title winners including Chris Goodchild, Josh Ford, Danny
Maguire, Romone Rose and James Folkes as well as younger lads
stepping up from the under 16’s such as Ryan Myers, Antonio
German and substitute Michael Wright.
The R’s edged
the tie 1-0 when last seasons top scorer, Rose, got off the mark
for this campaign after half an hour. Rangers failed to extend
their lead despite dominating play but will be well pleased to
have got off to a winning start.
Steve Brown was
naturally delighted with the result.
"Our midfield
three worked tirelessly and the lads earned the victory through
resilience, hard work and grit,” he said “it's always nice to
start the season with a win and hopefully we can go on from
here."
Meanwhile Posh
Boss Dave Robertson lamented the appallingly windy weather
saying “The conditions were not great for us, but we did well
under the circumstances. We were disappointed to concede the way
we did, but there were definitely some good individual
performances.” |
