BACK IN BUSINESS
Monday 7th April 2008
by Ron Norris
The under 18's got back to winning ways on Saturday
morning ending their four game winless run with a 3-2 victory over
Leyton Orient at Harlington.
There were a few changes to the regular line up,
young 'keeper Nicki Bulmer was in goal behind a back four of Billy
Coyne, Josh Ford, Lee Brown and Femi Kesanmi, who also played on trial
for the reserves last week.
Aaron Morgan-Cummings, Matt O'Brien, the returning
Danny Maguire and Chris Arthur made up the midfield whilst Antonio
German paired with Danny Fernandez up front.
After a goalless first half things soon picked up
after the break when German struck his twelfth of the season ten minutes
into the second period.
Ford notched an own goal as the visitors levelled
things up soon after but Fernandez restored Rangers' lead five minutes
later with his first goal in his first full appearance.
Orient scored a second equaliser when Lee Brown was
dismissed for handball on the line and The O's knocked in the resulting
penalty. However ten man Rangers forced a late spot kick of their own
which was duly converted by Coyne to secure a valuable victory.
The win keeps Rangers on track for their second
straight league title, we are now four points clear of Gillingham with a
game in hand and three fixtures remaining. This weekend Rangers travel
to face Southend, who are currently sitting second from bottom of the
league.
