THAT's
ALL FOULKES
Much like the first team it
seems the under 18’s need to go a goal down to kick them into
action. Last weekend they came from behind to see off Portsmouth
and did the same this Saturday against Yeovil but with more
devastating effect running out winners by five goals to one.
With qualification already
impossible Joe Gallen made three changes to last weeks starting
eleven for this Youth Alliance Cup group game.
Liam O’Brien continued in goal, Karl
Yelland returned to the side at right back with the rest of the
defence, Aaron Goode, Josh Ford and Andrew Howell all remaining
in place.
Billy Coyne moved to right wing to
accommodate Yelland, Matt O’Brien and Harry Smart continued
their midfield partnership whilst Lee Brown stayed on the left
wing. Upfront Gallen paired recent signing James Foulkes with
Matt O’Connell played out of position alongside him.
Rangers conceded first but
had bounced back in contention shortly before half time through
Billy Coyne’s fine volley. Shortly after the break Joe Gallen
made a similar change to the one that had won last weeks match
against Pompey. Once again he replaced Ford with Chris Arthur
and pushed Brown back to the defence, allowing Arthur to tear
his fullback a new one.
Still it took until after
the hour mark for Rangers to hit the front when Foulkes’ scored
the first goal of his Rangers career to make it 2-1 and this was
hotly followed a couple of minutes later by O’Connell’s first of
the season as Rangers took control of the game.
The floodgates then started
to open with Foulkes scoring his second five minutes from full
time before grabbing his hatrick just before the whistle to
complete a comprehensive win for the young R’s.
Rangers
complete their ill fated Youth Alliance Cup fixtures next week
when we travel to face Plymouth who are currently bottom of the
table with just the one victory from their five games.
