RED HOT
RICKY IS PEERLESS AGAINST SOUTHEND
Rangers' under
18's tore through Southend on Saturday morning, running out easy
winners in an impressive 7-2 result, top scorer Ricky Sappleton
got himself a hatrick in the process.
It only took twenty minutes for
Rangers to effectively put the game beyond the visitors as the
returning Giant Ray Jones struck first, then Adam Bernard scored
his second goal in successive games to make it 2-0 before Giant
Ray scored again to gave Rangers an early 3-0 lead. Southend
pulled one back late in the half but Ricky Sappleton bagged his
first of the game just before the whistle to make the halftime
score 4-1 to the Hoops.
After the break Rangers roared
back out the traps, Romone Rose came off the bench to make it
5-1 before Sappleton scored his second, and Rangers fifth, with
ten minutes left to play. Southend again found a way through to
make it 6-2 but Sappleton wrapped up a fine hatrick in the dying
minutes to ensure a fine win for the R's.
The win moves Rangers up to second
in the South East Conference, but we're still nine points behind
leaders Brighton who enjoyed another victory on Saturday.
Our next under 18's fixture is
on Saturday 4th February when our boys visit Luton Town. We'll
have news from that game online the following Monday.
