PAT, DOM
AND MATT BACK IN ACTION
The under 18's faced
Gillingham on Saturday morning and earned a 2-2 draw in a match
that saw the return to action of three young defenders.
Steve Gallen was able to call upon
the services of three of our brightest defensive hopes for the
trip to Gillingham. The ex Arsenal pair of Matt Hislop and
Dominic Shimmin both made their first appearances at this level
this season whilst Patrick Kanyuka, who has been dogged with
injury problems throughout the campaign, made his second under
18's start this term. Regulars Tim Sandercombe, Karl Yelland,
Harry Smart and Ricky Sappleton were also included in the
starting eleven.
Rangers found themselves one down
after a deflected Gillingham free kick beat Sandercombe but
Harry Smart headed home just before half time to level things up
with his first of the season. Rangers took the lead after the
break as Danny Maguire continued his scoring run by bagging his
fourth goal at this level in just six starts. The lead didn't
last long though, Gillingham ensured the points were shared when
a second deflected shot found its way past the unfortunate
Sandercombe in goal.
The result means Rangers slip to
third in the South East Conference table, two points behind
Rushden in second. We have three games left to play and they are
all away from home. Our next game is this Saturday when the lads
travel to face 8th placed Northampton.
