RANGERS LEAVE BRIGHTON ROCKED

Rangers' under 18's continued their fine form in the Conference South East of late with an excellent 2-0 win over Champions Brighton on Saturday.

It was a strong looking line up that travelled to the South Coast to face the Champs, there were starts for regulars Sean Thomas, Karl Yelland, Ricky Sappleton, Chris Arthur and Rangers' new number 36, Jon Munday. Up and comers Danny Maguire and Ramone Rose were also in the eleven as were first team squad members Matthew Hislop, Patrick Kanyuka and Dominic Shimmin as they look to gain further fitness following their injuries.

Brighton wrapped up the league title two weeks ago with a 2-1 victory over Rushden but last week were caught napping by Wycombe, who beat them 2-1. It appears the big cigars were out again this week as Rangers sealed a 2-0 victory with goals from Danny Maguire and Ricky Sappleton. Maguire's strike makes it five for him from just eight starts whilst Sappleton's was his fifteenth of the season at this level.

The championship may have already gone but thanks to this win Rangers now have a real chance of finishing as runners up. Rushden are currently in second place but they completed their fixtures this weekend with a 2-2 draw at home to Gillingham and that means the R's are just a point behind them now with a game still to play.

So it all comes down to this weekends match against London rivals Leyton Orient who currently sit in tenth place in the twelve team division. Victory would secure second for Rangers and would be a nice achievement for the season.

Rangers team: Thomas, Yelland, Shimmin, Kanyuka, Hislop, Rose (Ngongou), Munday, Cousins, Arthur (Coyne), Sappleton, Maguire. Subs not used: Sandercombe, Goode, Sethi
