UNDER 18's LOSE AT BRENTFORD
An under strength under 18's
side went down 3-1 at Brentford on Saturday afternoon as Joe
Gallen chose to rest key players for the upcoming FA Youth Cup
third round clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
That meant there was no
place for regulars Jonathan Munday, Karl Yelland, Adam Bernard,
Harry Smart or Bruno Luz, and you would imagine all these lads
will be involved in Wednesday's squad. Andrew Howell was also
missing as he travelled with the first team to Stoke.
With Joe off scouting Aston
Villa, Steve Gallen took charge of the side but found his side
2-0 down before the twenty minute mark. Brentford extended their
lead in the second half to make it 3-0 and all but wrap up the
points. Ricky Sappleton hit his second goal in consecutive
games to make it 3-1, and take his seasons total to seven in
eleven starts, but a comeback was never on the cards for the
young Hoops.
Attention now turns to the
cup tie on Wednesday night with Joe Gallen calling it "as big as
it gets". Villa are one of the countries top youth sides and the
match will prove a massive challenge for Gallen's R's.
If you can get down to
Loftus Road on Wednesday evening please do come and support the
boys, it's only a fiver to get in for adults, just £2 for kids
and should prove to be an entertaining evenings football. Kick
off is at 7pm.
