THE SAINT SHINES
Tuesday 16th October 2007
by Simon Skinner
Rangers’
reserves ran out 1-0 winners in a dull game against Wycombe
Wanderers this afternoon. The most defensive line up ever to
pull on the hoops won thanks to a moment of magic from Kieron St
Aimie.
One look at the
starting XI would have told observers that this might not be the best
game! Cole was in goal behind a back seven of Bignot, Curtis, Mancienne,
Cullip, Shimmin, Timoska and Howell. St Aimie ploughed a lone midfield
furrow behind dynamic strike duo Moore and Baidoo.
The only goal of the
game came before the quarter hour mark when the prodigiously talented St
Aimie collected the ball in his own half and powered the length of the
field before slotting past Kazimierczak in the Wycombe goal. This added
to his pre season cracker against Celtic and will have hopefully
increased his first team prospects. |

The excitement ended
there as both sides missed the odd chance but there were no further
goals. The most notable points were an early injury to Timoska and the
return of Mancienne. Mancienne was taken off at the break following his
comeback from injury and there was also a first reserve run out for
youth team striker Angelo Balanta.
So the farcical Pontins
Crocodile Club Round Robin continues apace. That is now a whopping three
reserve games so far and we are over two months into the season. There
is a veritable frenzy of games coming up now though with two more before
the end of the month. Oh you spoil us Captain Croc, you really do!
