After a gap of over three months
with barely a game in this strange
old division, Rangers' reserves have
now played two weeks running with
differing results. Last week we were
destroyed 6-1 by Crystal Palace but
this Tuesday bounced back to win 2-0
at Wycombe. Rangers named a very
strong side for this one, Simon
Royce was in goal behind a back four
of Aaron Goode, Zesh Rehman, Pat
Kanyuka and the rehabilitating
Marcus Bignot. Romone Rose, Stefan
Bailey, Jimmy Smith and Shabazz
Baidoo made up the midfield with
Paul Furlong and Stefan Moore paired
upfront.
The R's made sure of the win with a
goal in each half, first youth team
regular Goode headed home Jimmy
Smith's corner after fifteen minutes
for his first goal at this level.
Then Baidoo doubled the lead with
fifteen left to play, after picking
up Moore's flick on and rounding the
keeper to roll the ball home. That's
Shabba's fourth strike at this level
in eight starts, he still can't get
near a first team struggling for
goals though.
Marcus Bignot enjoyed a good run as
his comeback steps up a pace. He was
finally withdrawn after getting a
good hour of football under his belt
and will be hoping to be back in
first team contention very soon. He
was replaced by Andrew Howell and
there were also run outs off the
bench for fellow under 18's players
Kieron St. Aimie and Matt O'Brien.
After the massive gap in action
between November and now the games
come thick and fast for Rangers, our
next fixture is only two weeks away
when we welcome Aldershot to Loftus
Road. However the title looks to be
already sewn up by Southampton who
have a one hundred percent record
after ten games. |
