Rangers reserve side bombed to a 3-1
reverse against Crystal Palace on
Tuesday evening. Kevin Gallen did
manage to level the scores for
Rangers but The Eagles proved too
stern a test for a side that seemed
to be run by Richard Hill rather
than Gary Waddock.
The teams had exchanged chances
through Moses and Munday before
Palace hit the front when Matthew
Hislop turned the ball into his own
net. Fifteen year old Victor Moses
tore the bandy legged Armel
Tchakounte a new one and his shot
looked to be going in anyway before
the former Arsenal left back
intervened.
Rangers were on level terms on the
half hour mark when Gallen stepped
up to lash a fierce freekick into
the Palace net. Palace replied in
kind though and re-took the lead
thanks to a similar freekick from
Ryan Hall.
After the break Jake Cole did his
level best to keep the score down as
the patchwork defence of Tchakounte,
Munday, Milanese and Hislop were
breached time and again. With
thirteen minutes left it was 3-1
when Cole failed to hold a long
range strike from Hall and the
moustachioed Lewis Grabban stabbed
home.
Romone Rose shaved the Palace bar
from long range before Nicky Ward
forced the home keeper into a late
save to keep the Palace advantage at
two goals.
Reports from the game suggest that
Waddock was cutting a forlorn figure
on the bench as Richard Hill
orchestrated proceedings from the
touchline.
As always with these games people
will say that the results don’t
matter but I am sure the players
involved wouldn’t say that! This
term the stiffs have been pretty
poor and this was their third
reverse in five games. The older
pros will be ok but a run of defeats
can dent a youngster’s confidence so
they will be hoping for better
things when the reserves next turn
out…on 14th November! What a shit
league this is! |
