Rangers reserve side played out a
0-0 draw with their Millwall
counterparts at The New Den on
Tuesday afternoon. In a fairly
unremarkable encounter the bright
spot for the R’s will have been the
continued rehabilitation of Simon
Royce.
Any R’s fans that had made the trip
to South Bermondsey to take this one
in would have found a side that
failed to test former R’s stopper
Chris Day throughout the ninety
minutes, this despite a front two of
Kevin Gallen and Shabazz Baidoo.
For the home side a number of
chances came and went with Gavin
Grant and former Plymouth man Chris
Zebroski the main culprits in the
profligacy stakes. Millwall’s
reserves have yet to concede a goal
this season, perhaps Spackers should
have been rooting around his stiffs
a bit more as the first team had
more leaks than a second hand
colander.
Other than the appearance for Royce,
Egutu Oliseh made his comeback from
a hamstring strain whilst first team
squad members Nick Ward and Mauro
Milanese got some game time after
only featuring fleetingly under the
new regime.
It would have been useful for the
youngsters to get a game with some
experienced players and Goode,
Howell, Munday and Watanabe will be
better for it.
The result leaves Rangers in 6th
spot in the Combination League
table, which sounds alright until
you realise there are only eight
teams in it! Next up for the
reserves is a trip to Crystal Palace
who currently in third place having
lost 2-0 at leaders Southampton
tonight. That match takes place in a
weeks time with a two o’clock kick
off. |
