Joe Gallen took charge of Rangers’
reserves this afternoon as they
fought out a 1-1 draw at Loftus
Road.
Both teams named experienced looking
line ups, Rangers started with Sean
Thomas in goal and a back four of
Marcin Kus, Ryan Johnson, Georges
Santos and Andrew Howell. In
midfield youth teamer Adam Bernard
lined up with Stefan Bailey, a
rehabilitating Marc Bircham and Luke
Townsend whilst Shabazz Baidoo and
Sammy Youssouf started up front.
With Steve Coppell and Gary Waddock
watching from the stands, Rangers
took the lead on the fifteen minute
mark, a good ball from Andrew Howell
found Sammy Youssouf and his left
footed strike was enough to beat
Graham Stack in the Reading goal.
Despite creating a flurry of
chances, Rangers found themselves
all square on the hour mark when
Shane Long ‘s twenty five yard
belter beat the helpless Thomas. The
R’s continued to press but couldn’t
find a way past the away side and
had to settle for a share of the
points.
Our reserves have a rare chance to
play a little run of games now,
which can only be good for getting
our walking wounded fit. We play
every Tuesday for the next three
weeks starting with a trip to
Aldershot next week. Kick off for
that one is seven o’clock.
