Rangers reserve side went down 2-1
at home to Crawley Town at Loftus
Road this afternoon. In a similar
scenario to the game against
Aldershot last season, the
Conference side played an almost
full strength team.
Crawley took the lead early on
through Steve Burton as the players
looked to come to terms with some
testing conditions. There were no
further goals before the break
although Scott Donnelly did limp off
with a foot injury. He has been out
for the last couple of games with a
damaged foot but we shouldn’t be
surprised that one of our players
has suffered an injury recurrence.
It is an all too familiar story at
the club over the past couple of
seasons.
Two minutes from time Crawley went
2-0 ahead when Omari Coleman beat
the returning Simon Royce. Rangers
hit back immediately through Stefan
Moore but it was not enough to get
anything from the match.
Crawley manager and former R’s
legend John Hollins was rumoured to
have cancelled training today so the
first team could play in an attempt
to flog the lot of them. No doubt
the players cranked it up a notch
from the wretched league displays of
late in an attempt to jump off of a
rapidly sinking ship.
For Rangers the main focus of the
game was getting a good 90 minutes
in for Simon Royce and he is sure to
be back on the bench for Saturday’s
first team game against Sheffield
Wednesday. The injury to Donnelly is
a worry; hopefully it is nothing
more serious than a knock. |
