The
reserves lost their second straight
home game to a non league side on
Tuesday afternoon, going down 3-2 to
Aldershot Town.
Rangers named an attacking line up
to face the side they beat 4-0 just
two weeks ago. Sean Thomas was in
goal behind a back four of Ugo Ukah,
Jonathan Munday, Georges Santos and
Andrew Howell. Stefan Bailey and
Scott Donnelly were the central
midfield pairing whilst Shabazz
Baidoo, Sammy Youssouf, Luke
Townsend and Stefan Moore took up
the wide and forward positions
between them.
For Aldershot's part they named a
starting eleven that included four
players who featured in their first
team on Saturday and two familiar
faces in former R's Lewis Hamilton
and Leroy Griffiths. It didn't take
them long to get into this one, the
game was only four minutes old
before
Hassan
Sulaiman converted from a decent
Griffiths cross to put the visitors
one up.
It
took Rangers nearly twenty minutes
to find a way back into the game but
the equaliser finally came from a
set piece courtesy of the returning
Donnelly who curled a twenty five
yard free kick round the wall and
and inside the post to level things
up.
However despite getting a grip back
on the game The R's failed to
capitalise and just nine minutes
later The Shots were in front again.
A long ball was knocked over the top
and Kirk Hudson's pace caught out
the Rangers defence, Hudson then did
well to round Sean Thomas and send
his side in at the break 2-1 up.
The
second half struggled to live up to
the pace of the first but there were
still plenty of chances for both
sides to take hold of the game.
Leroy Griffiths was denied a goal on
his return to Loftus Road when he
was ruled offside from Hamilton's
pass and Sammy Youssouf, who had
earlier been denied a penalty claim,
got face on face with Ryan Scott and
might have been fortunate to escape
with a ticking off from the referee.
As the
game drew into the last ten minutes
Rangers finally broke through The
Shots rearguard, Scott Donnelly's
pass split the defence and Sammy
Youssouf was on hand to slot home
his second goal in four starts at
this level. Rangers would have been
expecting to share the points but as
the clock ticked down Aldershot
threw on their youth team top
scorer, Danny Hylton. His pace got
him away from the Rangers backline
and he slipped it past Thomas to
give Aldershot the lead, and
ultimately all three points.
