With the ravaging injury crisis engulfing the squad today’s line up was made up almost entirely of youth team players, something which is surely all great experience for the lads.

Jake Cole started in goal and will be pleased to have kept his first clean sheet of the season. The back four was made up of John Fletcher at right back, Ryan Johnson and Patrick Kanyuka across the middle with Daniel Murphy at left back.

Ruben Zadkovich, Scott Mulholland, Stefan Bailey, Scott Donnelly and Sonny Farr lined up across the middle with Luke Townsend spear heading the attack.

If Rangers were looking to blood young player, for Oxford perhaps the game was more about rehabilitating players with striker Rob Wollaeston and midfielder Jamie Brooks making comebacks from injuries.

A good first half display from Oxford was countered by a decent showing from Rangers in the second half and both teams can be happy to take a point each.
