Queens
Park Rangers' reserves lost three
nil at Cambridge United yesterday
afternoon in our last combination
fixture of the season.
Rangers went behind in the early
going; Shane Tolley gave Cambridge
the lead with just two minutes on
the clock. United would have the
better of the play and a clutch of
chances before finally doubling
their lead midway through the second
half.
Darren Quiton was bought down inside
the area and stepped up to convert
the spot kick and make it 2-0. The
game was over as a contest before
half time, young Cambridge striker
Tom Beech made it three without
reply after getting up at the far
past to head home.
Cambridge were reduced to ten men
after losing a man to injury and
having used all their subs were
forced to play out time a man light.
However it made no difference and
Rangers were well beaten having
failed to get any kind of grip on
the game.
So we end the season as we started
it with a 3-0 away defeat. We
started the season slowly with just
one win in the first seven and
finish in a mid table position.
Whilst the results haven't been the
greatest it doesn't tell the whole
story.
Throughout this season we've played
a side made of youngsters throughout
and it's been encouraging to watch
these lads grow in, what must be, a
big step up for them. They've
started to find their feet and that
can only be good news for the first
team. |
