Rangers' reserves lost in the
Pontins Holidays Cup thingy-ma-jig
at Brighton tonight but the real
story is the sending off's of both
Richard Pacquette and Paul Furlong
after a testy game exploded in the
last twenty minutes.
Furs
and Pac Man were given their
marching orders along with Brighton
defender Adam Virgo after a melee
ensued following a rough challenge
on Pacquette by the Brighton man.
Furs stepped in to dish out some
justice and this sparked a brawl,
resulting in the triple dismissal.
Brighton wrapped the points up in
the dying seconds as the game became
too much for Rangers' nine men.
Robbie Pethick broke down the right
and his cross found David Lee who
hit home past the helpless Nick
Culkin.
Tonight also saw the return to
action of Matthew Rose after his
injury hell. Rose played his first
fifty five minutes football in over
six months. Giles Coke replaced the
unluckiest man in football early in
the second half. Rangers also
featured two trialists in what was,
for once, a fairly experienced line
up and one that perhaps should have
been able to keep clearer heads.
Unfortunately the game could hit
Rangers hard with Furlong (and
Pacquette) now set to miss the games
at Oldham, Notts County and at home
against Colchester.
