Rangers' reserves are still
searching for their first away win
this season after crashing 2-1 to a
Swindon side at The County Ground
this afternoon. Rangers fielded an
eleven that wouldn't have looked too
out of place in the first team.
Nick
Culkin continued in goal while the
back four was made of Terrell
Forbes, Chris Plummer, Matthew Rose
and Tommy Williams. Oliver Burgess,
Marcus Bean, Wes Daly and Dennis Oli
were the midfield four while Richard
Pacquette and Brett "2nd
String Goal Machine" Angell started
up front. Not bad eh?
Rangers started brightly, Tommy
Williams smashed a thirty yard free
kick against the cross bar and Wes
Daly put an effort straight into the
Swindon keepers hands - all inside
the opening eight minutes.
Midway
through the half Brett Angell saw an
effort saved and Swindon went
straight up the other end and took
the lead from a corner. Full back
Gareth Edds swung in a corner which
was met by Ian Herring who steered
his header past Culkin to give
Swindon the lead going into the
break.
The
second half saw Rangers level things
up through long serving Chris
Plummer. Williams swung in the
corner and Plummer leapt to cancel
out Towns lead with the second
headed goal of the match.
Swindon would take the lead again
shortly afterward, the third goal of
the match coming from yet another
corner, again by Edds saw Alan
Young's initial shot cleared off the
line but Young was quicker to the
ball than the Rangers rearguard and
rifled home to win the game for the
Robins.
Danny
Murphy came on for a late run out in
place of Williams but Rangers
couldn't get back into the game. Tim
Breaker will no doubt see the
continued progress of Forbes,
Williams, Plummer, Rose and Oli as
positives to take away from the
match. Reserve team football isn't
primarily about results of course
but it would be nice to win one away
from home this season. |
