Following on from the 6-0 thumping
of Millwall last week Rangers
reserves surrendered meekly to
Plymouth Argyle this afternoon.
Reading goalkeeper Phil Whitehead
played for the R's as Holloway looks
to get a replacement keeper in
following the knee injury to Nick
Culkin. The three goals he let in
will have done his chances little
good and he will be grateful that
Plymouth contrived to miss a
re-taken penalty.
The Argyle goals came courtesy of
Paul Steward just before the break,
Nathan Lowndes and Hasney Aljofree.
Indeed it was Aljofree that missed
the retaken penalty, having scored
with his first effort.
Timmy Breacker will take little away
from this game other than seeing Ben
Walshe get through ninety minutes
for the first time since being
injured in the win at Chesterfield.
The fact that Rangers could only
point to one recognised centre back
in the starting eleven may account
for the poor show but from the
various reports of the game it seems
Rangers proved to be little threat
for the men from Devon. This was a
relatively experienced side at this
level and they must be looking to
improve a hell of a lot in the next
game. |
