Rangers reserves earned a point on
their travels this afternoon but
threw away a two goal lead allowing
Leyton Orient to draw level Brisbane
Road.
Rangers fielded a team of very young
eleven, every one of which had come
through the clubs youth team system.
Jake Cole returned to take the goal
with a back four of Nathan Stamp,
Marien Ifura, David Wattley and
Danny Murphy in front of him. In
midfield Rangers should have been
extremely strong, Dennis Oli lined
up on the right with Ben Walshe on
the left, Wes Daly and the
recuperating Oliver Burgess were
central. Up front Richard Pacquette
was partnered by Brian Fitzgerald.
Indeed
it was Fitzgerald who opened the
scoring for Rangers after fifteen
minutes, tapping past Paul Jones
following good work and a good ball
from Oli down the right. Richard
Pacquette had an opportunity to
double Rangers lead but saw his
header come back off the bar whilst
at the other end Jake Cole was
making good saves to keep the
advantage in QPR's favour going into
the break. A bright opening to the
second half for Orient was snuffed
out when Pacquette pulled a good
ball back across goal for Oliver
Burgess to pounce and score his
first goal back in a hooped shirt.
Unfortunately it only took about
eight minutes for Orient to get back
in the game, midfielder John Martin
was brought down in the box and
Steve Watts hammered the penalty
home. This gave Orient the spark
they needed and seemed to sap the
young Rangers teams confidence and
the match was levelled only ten
minutes later when Jabo Ibehre
rounded Cole to slot home. Orient
piled the pressure on after that
and, if not for the impressive Cole
in goal may have ended the afternoon
with all three points. |
