Rangers' reserves played out a dull
0-0 draw with Northampton Town at
Chestnut Avenue this evening. The
game was notable for the comebacks
of Clarke Carlisle, Lyndon Duncan,
Karl Connolly (again!) and Tom(my)
Williams but more of him later.
To say
that this was dull would be
overstating it somewhat. Neither
Chris Day nor Lee Harper (making a
comeback from a broken foot) were
forced into any notable saves as
both teams struggled to create.
Karl
Connolly looked pretty sharp, well
as sharp as he ever does, in the
first half and he seemed to link
well with man of the match David
Booles. The youngster Booles is
starting to establish himself in the
reserve side now and considering he
is still 16 this is no mean feat. I
wouldn't be surprised if he was
involved in the first tem friendlies
come the summer.
Doudou
was going about proving his
supporters wrong with a quite awful
display. He seemed do disinterested
in proceedings it was embarrassing
to think that he actually takes a
wage from the club. Those that
clamour for his inclusion in the
first team should really try and get
down to the reserves and see the
sort of effort he puts in there.
As the
final whistle sounded we were
treated to an act of extreme
petulance from self styled pin up
boy Williams. Having replaced
Connolly at the break Williams had
been playing wide on the left. He
had little involvement in the game
and seemed less than committed to
the cause. At reserve games it is
easy for the players to hear the
comments of the supporters and it
seems the shy and retiring Tom(my)
took exception.
He
approached the mass ranks of Rangers
fans (I think there were about ten
in the area) and asked if somebody
had said something to him. It was
not a polite enquiry and was
obviously an effort at creating a
situation.
Anybody that has seen Williams play
will now that he has an attitude
problem and this normally manifests
itself in outbursts at the
officials. Whether the lady lino was
not enough of a match for him is a
question only he can answer but t
turn on the fans watching the game
for having the temerity to proffer
an opinion is an absolute disgrace.
Since
he arrived from Birmingham Williams
has won few admirers amongst the R's
fans with his lacklustre
performances. The reason the fans
were making comment was because he
turned in another crap(py)
performance. He bottled a challenge
late in the game that could have
lead to a goalscoring chance, it is
not as if he pulled out late, as
soon as the ball dropped you could
see in his face he didn't fancy it.
Williams could do worse than look to
David Booles as an example of the
perfect attitude, and the lad is
only sixteen.
We
simply don't need this type of
Charlie big bollocks attitude within
the club and the sooner his loan
expires the better. I'm not sure if
anybody at the club will read this
and if they do I am not sure they
will give a shit but Ian Holloway
needs to have this brought to his
attention and he needs to get hold
of Williams and have serious words.
An attitude like this will not help
the promotion push. |
