Rangers' reserves ended their barren
spell away from Chestnut Avenue with
a 1-0 win at Luton Town this
afternoon. Tommy Williams hit the
only goal of the match to give Tim
Breaker his first away win of the
season.
Rangers fielded a side featuring a
mix of experience and trialists with
former Ipswich centre back Lee
Chaffey rumoured to have started in
the back four alongside Chris
Plummer.
Rangers goal came just before the
break, Richard Pacquette laid off a
long ball to Williams who fired home
from the edge of the eighteen yard
box. Pacquette came close on a few
occasions, putting a free kick over
the bar and hitting a couple of long
range efforts wide.
Luton
had their share of chances but found
Chris Plummer in commanding form at
the back; Rangers' defensive
strength limited Luton to just one
shot on target which was easily
saved by Culkin.
The
victory bought an end to this
season's combination football with
Rangers finishing in low-mid table
after taking the title last year. At
home our form has been quite
supreme, we slipped to just one
defeat all season unfortunately the
away form has been the total
opposite, today being the first win
of the season as mentioned above.
Sill
results aren't the be all and end
all at this level it is about
developing our young talent and
bringing senior players back from
injuries, something at which Tim
Breaker has done an admirable job |
