Rangers' reserves crashed to a
second successive defeat this
afternoon against Bristol City at
Ashton gate. A young side was
fielded with the 1st team having a
game against Cheltenham on Tuesday
night and they were not able to
contain The Robins.
Yet
another trial keeper was on show,
Bertrand Bossu of Hayes was the
latest to try and impress. The giant
Frenchman currently plies his trade
in the Ryman Premier with mixed
reports. Danny Self, released by
Norwich City earlier this season,
lined up at right back.
Rangers fell behind to a Joe
Anyinsah goal only for the returning
Richard Pacquette to level the game
before the break. This was
Pacquette's first outing since a
fleeting appearance as a sub at
Swindon, a game in which he didn't
look fully fit. He will be pleased
to have got an hour of football and
a goal under his belt.
Bossu made a couple of saves after
the break to deny Anyinsah a second
goal as well as Billy Mehmet,
another player from the seemingly
bottomless West Ham academy. Late in
the game Bristol City substitute
Darren Hawkins scored what proved to
be the winning goal.
Yet another defeat will not please
Timmy Breacker considering the
nature of the last victory. Yes this
was a young team and yes we did have
a trialist keeper but this is no
excuse and the reserves will look to
put this behind them quickly as
there is rumoured to be a game
against Wycombe Wanderers next week. |
