Final Call For Fantasy Rangers 10

The deadline for this years Fantasy Rangers entries is midnight on Wednesday so if you want to play this seasons game you need to have your team into us by that time. UPDATED TO INCLUDE SEAN WRIGHT-PHILLIPS & ANTON FERDINAND

Fantasy Rangers is our very own fantasy football game which has been a staple of the site since 2002. Once again the rules have been revamped for the new season so even if you are a regular Fantasy Rangers player please read on to find out all the information on this years competition.

You are tasked with picking a team of eleven players whilst remaining within a set budget and you will earn points based on how those players perform over the coming season.

You can enter your team now or hold off until the end of the August in case (and I’ll try and say this with a straight face) we make any major signings before the transfer window closes.

Here’s a full break down of the rules on playing Fantasy Rangers, how to pick your team and the entry form.

General Information

Fantasy Rangers is a “fantasy football” type game based around Queens Park Rangers football club. Your job as manager is to pick the best QPR side you can within an allowed budget.

You must pick a team of eleven QPR players to represent your team and their real life performances will generate their fantasy scores. The person at the end of the season with the highest points total will be deemed the winner.

Picking Your Squad

You must pick a team of eleven QPR players, broken down into 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 forwards.

Please note that the players' positions are for the purpose of the game only, for example, if Matthew Connolly plays a game in midfield he will still score points as a defender (see “how to score points”).

Each squad member has been assigned a rating from 1 – 5, this is their 'fantasy value. Your eleven players total fantasy values must not exceed your allocated “spending” budget of 40 fantasy points.

The players’ fantasy value is specified in the "value" column so for example Hogan Ephraim will cost 2 of your 40 fantasy points to buy. The full squad listing, including the applicable positions and fantasy value is as follows:

Scoring Points

You earn or lose points based on what actually happens to the players through QPR’s season. All competitions count (The Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup) and players score in the following ways:

First Team Start
+ 8 Points

Substitute Appearance
+ 4 points

Goal Scored
+ 5 Points

Hatrick
+ 10 Points (plus the 15 points for the three goals)

Yellow Card
- 1 Point

Red Card
-3 Points

As well as this, defensive players and goalkeepers earn and lose points based on goals conceded:

Goalkeepers & Defenders (only)

Clean Sheet (starting XI)
+ 4 Points

Clean Sheet (substitutes)
+ 2 Points

Every Goal Conceded (starting XI)
-2 Points

Every Goal Conceded (substitutes)
-1 Points

Be aware that if a player makes an appearance at any point of the game he scores as if he had played the full game. Therefore if your defender is taken off he will still lose points for any goals conceded after he leaves the pitch, conversely he will earn points for clean sheets as if he was still playing. This rule also works the same if a player comes onto the pitch, they will accrue all relevant points as if they had played the whole match.

Points awarded for goals scored or points lost for red and yellow cards will not be adjusted if these decisions are overturned at a later date.

Players continue to gain or lose points as appropriate throughout any periods of extra time that QPR may play during cup competitions. Penalty shoot outs however do not count for point scoring.

It goes without saying, but a player who does not feature in a match scores zero points.

Bonus Points

There are also a number of bonus points your players can earn, and they are as follows

Captains Double

This year you are required to pick a captain for you side, whichever of your players you name as skipper will earn double points for you throughout the season.

The four + bonus.

If QPR score four or more goals in any one match every player who featured either in the starting eleven or as a substitute will receive a 5 point bonus.

Man of the Match

The player named our man of the match on our twitter feed or match reports will be awarded a 5 point bonus.

Player of the Month

The player voted player of the month in the QPRnet monthly awards vote will receive a 10 point bonus.

Transfers

Just like real life there will be one transfer window in the season, giving you the chance to dump your duds and bring in some new blood. The transfer window will open for one week in January and give you opportunity to change three of your team for new faces.

The exact dates of the window will be announced nearer the time to fit in with fixture gaps.

Winner

The winner will be the person who at the end of the season (determined by the last competitive game QPR play in) who has accumulated the highest total of fantasy points.

If for any reason this score is drawn with one or more players the winner will then be decided by the player whose team has the better goal difference (the total goals scored by his squad over the season minus the total goals conceded).

If it is still drawn after that the winner will then be decided by the team that has scored the most goals, then the team that has conceded the fewer goals, then the least red cards awarded, then the least yellow cards awarded. In the event of a draw after all of this the winner will be decided by the drawing of lots. If it's good enough for FIFA it's good enough for us!

Prizes

There will be a QPR related prize for the winner of the competition.

Updates

The Fantasy Rangers section on the site will be updated at least once a month to include current league standings. Updates will be announced on the site and the message board.

Teams will start scoring from the next available game so you have a choice, enter straight away and start scoring from the beginning of the season or wait a bit, gamble on us signing a valuable new player and start playing catch up. A word of warning though, in the two years we’ve been playing the entry gamble no one has won the competition by entering late.
