The votes for the latest monthly awards are in and here are
your picks for the best player, goal and game from last month and all of them
link back to our only win in October….
First let’s look at the match of the month vote and you had
four options to pick from a win and a draw at home and two defeats on the road.
Unsurprisingly the Fulham rampage did not receive any votes at all but it says
something for quality of the Blackburn game that it was also ignored despite us
getting a point in that one.
That left it as a straight fight between the Chelsea home
win and the Spurs away defeat and you wont be massively surprised to know that
it’s the that 1-0 victory over our West London rivals that wins the poll taking
nearly 93% of your votes with the remainder given to the Tottenham match.
Augusts’ goal of the month vote saw a first for this
feature, with just one strike we had a winner by default and we have another
first this month too with a penalty taking top spot for the first time. Heidar
Helguson’s spot kick against Chelsea that earned us that famous win takes the
prize with more than 52% of you picking that as your favourite.
All three October goals were in the running though with the
remaining votes shared between Helguson’s other strike against Blackburn,
around 35% of you voted that into second, whilst 13% picked Jay Bothroyd’s consolation
at White Hart Lane as their choice.
Finally the player of the month goes to the man who played a
massive part in our successes last month after returning to the side, yes Heidar
Helguson is your October winner. The Iceman wins his first ever player of the
month award in a three year Loftus Road career after 29% of you picked him as the
stand out performer.
Heidar only just edged it from runner up Anton Ferdinand who
was just 6% off the pace and perhaps can consider himself unfortunate not to
win this one. Alejandro Faurlin was third (16%) whilst Luke Young (13%), Paddy
Kenny (10%), Joey Barton (6%) and last month’s winner Shaun Wright-Phillips
(3%) made up the numbers.
So that’s it for October, All the winners go through to our
traditional end of the season vote and we’ll be asking you to pick the best
from November as soon as this months fixtures are over. As always, thanks for
taking part.
