17 goals in a poor team says otherwise. team also looks really young so might bring in the experience and cool head.

Can't ignore him when other strikers are out injured.
And his goals tally makes him a good replacement.

Fair point. But I guess we need to get there before we can think about the finals?

Giving another youngster a go gives us a very inexperienced team for a game we need to win to get to finals though.

Quite...we're not talking about friendlies are we! Need to actually qualify and beating Lithuania is part of that.

We should be able to field a pub side and get out of this group. I thought one of the games was a friendly

You wouldn't pick any of the players from my pub team :-D

I think this post picks up a point about being an England supporter as a whole. I love QPR and know every player, every game, what it means to us if we win or lose, with England I really have lost my way as a fan. I can rarely be bothered to look up what games are coming up, what it means, or where we are in qualifiers, etc. I have even found myself watching anything else than some of the games in recent years. Most of the news and info I get is either from Sky Sports as its on in the background or from Talksport, if I didn't watch / listen to them then I wouldn't know there was a game on except for the break in QPR games. I know I am not alone as most of my mates say the same.

What happened to the days when pubs were full when England were playing and it really meant something to us as fans?

We play Germany (worth saying again...Germany) in a friendly and Lithuania in a qualifier.

Did you just say that a pub team could get out of this group? Perhaps you didn't catch the Euros???

Spoiler alert...we lost to Iceland!

Our national football team is a thing of great fragility...I think you play an in form striker in these next 2 games regardless of their age. :tu

I am actually surprised that Neville has opted to bring in an in-form striker. Normally the managers stick with the same names through tick and thin (mostly thin) and got the impression they would have to be on their death-beds to be omitted! :wink I would have liked to see an U23 striker involved too, but perhaps this should be against Germany, rather than the qualifier against Lithuania?
