New contract signed, superb! With us until 2020 or until someone pays big money for him.

Great news. There's some good things happening at this club. Now we need to translate it to results on the pitch!

Great news, by far our best player and asset so good to have him tied down.

We have a good foundation to build upon at least.

Finally! The club are getting it right with getting a good batch of players on longer (and more sensible!) contracts, and not the millions that we have wasted on the likes of SWP, Hoillett, Boswinga, Caesar, etc, who were given silly money for a silly length of time! Lets hope they keep this type of stance going, get people in (and staying) who are commited and want to play for the club!
Smithies is one of the most consistent keepers we have had for years, and if he now does get signed by a 'big club', at least we know we will get a good price for him, although would like to see him stay for many years to come! A future England No.1 for me!

I would imagine that if his agents any good there will be a release clause.
But at least it gives us the upper hand over transfer. :tu
