Luongo

New deal until 2020 signed yesterday.

Happy with that?

He is clearly a talented player but he is just wildly inconsistent and doesn't score enough (any!) goals.

I'm not even sure what his best position is. He isn't a defensive midfielder, lacks the power to be one of a midfield two and doesn't do enough in the final third to be an attacking midfielder.

Strange player, as I do like him but he is equally frustrating.

He's an Australian international, he's been voted the Most Valuable Player at the 2015 Asia Cup, and he scored the winning goal in the cup final. And, he's only 24. And he's signed for the next 3 years for us! Its ok to hope that he improves on some of the errors in his game, but sometimes its good to think, that if he does, he'll be an incredible player, and he's a Ranger!

I cant believe there are people not happy about this!

Agreed, seen a lof moaning on the wider web.

The alternative is Karl Henry. So despite the areas for improvement in Luongo's game we should all be happy!

I think it is right to highlight any shortcomings Luongo possesses, whilst celebrating his new contract extension. On a good match day he is a terrier in midfield, chasing down players and getting back the ball; but on a bad day he seems to be almost bypassed by the other team's play and his goal-scoring 'record' speaks for itself! Hopefully Freeman and/or Morrison will provide that support for attacks, whilst Luongo focuses upon defensive plays.

Great news and at 24 can only improve. I really do think he will become captain material in the coming years.
