It alludes to discussions having taken place at
board level regarding the sale of 50% of Loftus Road to
Brentford and the closure of Rangers’ “centre of excellence”
youth development system.
Both possibilities have caused unrest amongst
fans already, the mere mention of Ron Noades name (as this memo
concedes) causes the hackles to rise and the thought of never
seeing another home grown player pull on the Hoops is depressing
to say to the least.
The memo also demonstrates a complete disdain for
fans opinions stating “With all these scenarios there will be
adverse publicity. However, with the appropriate 'spin' this
would be manageable once everyone got over the shock”. So
basically feed us enough crap until we accept it.
I’ve always been fairly supportive of David
Davies and thought he had done a reasonable job in steadying the
ship, however, fact or fiction, this memo will leave me
wondering how much of what he says from now on is fact or
“spin”.
Of course it could be that these were simply
discussions that were not followed up on, they could have been
simply delayed or indeed they could be imminent. Whichever David
Davies needs to put this to bed NOW by explaining exactly what
the situation is otherwise he will lose whatever ever amount of
trust he has earned himself from Rangers fans quickly indeed.
The memo appeared on the recently launched
website, QPR 48-67 which plans to raise enough funds to secure
self determination for QPR FC away from a plc. A link follows
and it is well worth a look.
