The week got
off to a good start for QPR with Chairman Bill Power confirming
a £550,000 investment had been made by investment group Barnaby
Holdings. The deal means the New York based company now owns 10%
of the club, with Power expecting them to snap up a further
19.9% in the very near future.
“I'm fairly
certain they'll come in straightaway for the remaining 19.9% of
the shares” he told the official website” they're very excited
about what's happening here and they have nothing but the good
of QPR at heart”
It’s a
marked change from the false dawns and unfulfilled promises of
the last regime at QPR that courted more than a dozen potential
investors with limited success, and a great achievement for the
new board in a short space of time.
Following on
from this the LSA are now campaigning for former Chairman Chris
Wright to hand his shareholding back to the club in order for
the new board to seek further investment as soon as possible. A
peaceful demonstration at the upcoming Swansea league cup game
is planned to highlight the issue to as many fans as possible.
Wright
walked away from Loftus Road after allegedly being subject to
personal abuse at the game against Fulham in 2001 that also saw
our only two saleable assets, Richard Langley and Clarke
Carlisle, ruled out with long term injuries.
He is
considered to be the cause of all our recent problems but now
has a chance to put the whole sorry saga behind him and make one
last grand gesture to the club he supports. Handing back his
shareholding would give the board a fantastic opportunity to
invite more investors on board, bring more cash into the club
and finally enable us to move forward once again.
Chris you
have admitted to making mistakes when running the club and
you’ve taken a huge amount of personal criticism. Now you have
the chance to be the bigger man here, do the Wright thing, we
won’t forget it.
