FANTASY RANGERS IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Fantasy Rangers, our unique and exclusive Fantasy Football style management game is back for a fifth season and and you can enter your teams right now. Here's all the details on how it works and how to enter your teams.

Fantasy Rangers V

We've revamped the scoring system for the new season to give you more chance to score higher and of course you can choose from any of the current first team squad, including all our new signings.

Fantasy Rangers is a “fantasy football” type game based around Queens Park Rangers football club. Your job as manager is to pick the best QPR side you can within an allowed budget. A full breakdown of all the rules and details of how to play follows with details on how to enter at the end.

GENERAL INFORMATION

You must pick a team of eleven QPR players to represent your team, their real life performances will generate their fantasy scores, the person at the end of the season with the highest points total will be deemed the winner. It's all simple stuff so far!

PICKING YOUR TEAM

You must pick a team of eleven QPR players, broken down as follows:

1 Goalkeeper and 4 Defenders and either 4 Midfielders and 2 Strikers or 3 Midfielders and 3 Strikers

Please note that the players positions are for the purpose of the game only, therefore, for example, if Matthew Rose plays a game in midfield he will still score points as a defender (see “how to score points”). Bear in mind you don't have to pick players to fill exact positions, for example you do not need a right back, left back and two centre backs to complete your defence, just any four players specified as defenders.

Each squad member has been assigned a rating from 1 – 5. Your eleven players total ratings must not exceed your allocated “spending” budget of 35 fantasy points. The players fantasy value is specified in the "value" column therefore Danny Shittu will cost 5 of your 35 fantasy points to buy. The full squad listing, including the applicable positions and fantasy value is as follows:

Player Position Fantasy Value
Paul Jones Goalkeeper 4
Simon Royce Goalkeeper 3
Jake Cole Goalkeeper 2
Sean Thomas Goalkeeper 1
Danny Shittu Defender 5
Damion Stewart Defender 4
Mauro Milanese Defender 4
Matthew Rose Defender 3
Marcus Bignot Defender 3
Ian Evatt Defender 2
Dominic Shimmin Defender 2
Patrick Kanyuka Defender 2
Matthew Hislop Defender 1
Jonathan Munday Defender 1
Andrew Howell Defender 1
Lee Cook Midfielder 5
Martin Rowlands Midfielder 5
Nick Ward Midfielder 4
Gareth Ainsworth Midfielder 4
Egutu Oliseh Midfielder 3
Stefan Bailey Midfielder 3
Tommy Doherty Midfielder 3
Marc Bircham Midfielder 2
Armel Tchakounte Midfielder 2
Scott Donnelly Midfielder 2
Steve Lomas Midfielder 1
Kevin Gallen Striker 5
Marc Nygaard Striker 4
Adam Czerkas Striker 3
Paul Furlong Striker 3
Stefan Moore Striker 2
Shabazz Baidoo Striker 2
Ray Jones Striker 1

Any players signed between now and the entry deadline will be added to the Fantasy Rangers squad list.

SCORING POINTS

You earn or lose points based on what actually happens to the players through QPR’s season. All competitions count (Coca Cola Championship, FA Cup, and League Cup) and all players can score in the following ways:

First Team Appearance   + 3 Points
Goal Scored + 5 Points
Hatrick  + 10 Bonus Points
(plus the 15 points for the three goals)
Yellow Card  - 1 Point
Red Card    - 3 Points

Additionally if a player is named man of the match in our site match reports they will receive a further 5 points.

As well as this, defensive players and goalkeepers earn and lose points based on goals conceded:

Goalkeepers & Defenders (only)
Clean Sheet    + 5 Points
Every Goal Conceded   - 2 Points

As you have probably gathered by now it is impossible to select a full QPR first team with the budget you have been allocated, this is quite deliberate! This game is intended to test your knowledge of our entire squad and that is why your players will also earn points for any QPR reserve team matches that they feature in as follows:

Reserve Team Appearance + 2 Point
Goal Scored   + 3 Points
Hatrick  + 5 Bonus Points
(plus the 9 points for the three goals)
Goalkeepers & Defenders (only)
Clean Sheet + 3 Points
Every Goal Conceded - 1 Points

Be aware that if a player makes an appearance at any point of the game he scores as if he had played the full game. Therefore if your defender is taken off he will still lose points for any goals conceded after he leaves the pitch, conversely he will earn points for clean sheets as if he was still playing. This rule also works the same if a player comes onto the pitch, they will accrue all relevant points as if they had played the whole match.

Points awarded for goals scored or points lost for red and yellow cards will not be adjusted if these decisions are overturned at a later date.

Players continue to gain or lose points as appropriate throughout any periods of extra time that QPR may play during cup competitions. Penalty shoot outs however do not count for point scoring.

It goes without saying, but a player who does not feature in a match scores zero points.

BONUS POINTS
The player voted player of the month each month on this site will receive 10 bonus fantasy points.

TRANSFERS

There will be two transfer windows through the season to give you the opportunity to swap any two players from your squad each time. Transfers must not take your team over budget and you must adhere to either a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

Window One – Start of November 2006

Window Two – Start of March 2007

The exact dates will be decided at a later date to fit into fixture gaps.

When you transfer in a new player you do NOT get the points he has scored so far, only the points he earns while he is in your team. Likewise, points scored by players you transfer out are FROZEN and remain on your overall score.

If a player leaves QPR during the course of the season, he will score zero points until you transfer him out. You cannot transfer out a player who is suspended for any upcoming matches, he must complete his suspension as part of your team.

As players are signed by QPR they will added to the game with a relevant fantasy purchase price. They will then be available to transfer in to your team at the next transfer window. This will include loan signings.

WINNER

The winner will be the person who at the end of the season (determined by the last competitive game QPR play in) has accumulated the highest total of fantasy points, if for any reason this score is drawn with one or more players the winner will then be decided by the player whose team has the better goal difference (the total goals scored by his squad over the season minus the total goals conceded). If it is still drawn after that the winner will then be decided by the team that has scored the most goals, then the team that has conceded the fewer goals, then the least red cards awarded, then the least yellow cards awarded. In the event of a draw after this the winner will be decided by the drawing of lots. If it's good enough for FIFA it's good enough for us!

PRIZES

There will be QPR related prizes for the winner and runner up. Prizes will be presented at the end of the season and details will be announced nearer the time.

UPDATES

The Fantasy Rangers section on the site will be updated once a month to include current league standings. Updates will be announced on the site and the message board.
