Rangers have spent this week being linked to some crazy, yet fantastic sounding transfers in the press. Francesco Totti anyone? What about Alessandro Del Perio?
Neither seem particulary likely and both stories take me back to the heady days of the nineties when we were linked with moves for Paul Gascoinge and Roberto Baggio.
Whilst it is unthinkable that the likes of Totti and Del Perio will be strutting their stuff at Loftus Road anytime soon it does show what the benefits of having a high profile owner in place can do for us.
People are actually talking about us now, in Italy they even followed our match against Norwich, simply because of Briatore’s involvement. Suddenly QPR are interesting.
For years fans have bemoaned the clubs lack of decent PR, now we have a man at the helm who is giving us headlines for the right reasons.
Whilst the likes of Italian superstars in Hoops maybe a pipe dream for now, it’s making the world of football sit up and take notice of this little West London club and that cant be a bad thing.
